Welcome to Beal’s Dog Guard of South Central PA. I’m Doug Beal, owner of Beal’s Dog Guard of South Central PA in New Oxford, Pennsylvania. I have been a Dog Guard Out of Sight Fencing dealer since March 2006. I always wanted to be self-employed and after 25 years in the telecommunications industry this seemed to be the perfect fit.

My wife Pam and I have an eight-year-old Rat Terrier named “Chance.” He can show me how to have a good night even if I’m having a bad day. He is blind and his handicap has taught me to be more patient and compassionate with other dogs.

Something I enjoy about this job is the way the Dog Guard system makes believers out of even the most skeptical customers. I often work with people who are convinced that the system will not work on their dog, and are happily surprised when they find out that it does. It all goes back to training the customer as well as the dog and offering a great product. The Dog Guard system is veterinarian-approved and exclusively made in the U.S.A.

Beal’s Dog Guard of South Central PA stands out from the competition because we offer weekend and holiday availability. We have no store front, which keeps our cost down and, in turns, keeps customer cost down. As the owner, I’m involved in all sales, service and training.

The training piece of the job is something I especially enjoy. I spend at least one to two hours on training, depending on the number of dogs and size of the property. I’ll return as many times as needed to guarantee containment. I also enjoy the one-on-one interaction with the customer. They trust us with getting the best value for their money and as well as the safety of their pets.

My background in the telecommunications industry prepared me for the demands associated with installing pet-containment fencing, including trenching, back- hoeing, dealing with TV and telephone cable as well as placing miles of fiber-optic cable.

But my work ethic was instilled in me much earlier. My parents always pushed me to work hard and be honest with people. My Father was a farmer and building contractor for many years. To him, a man’s word meant a lot.

Beal’s Dog Guard of South Central PA is a family operation. Pam handles administrative duties, while my brothers-in-law Don and Mark, nephew Jeffrey, and good friend Mike help out with installations. Don, Mark and Mike own their own Dog Guard systems, so they are well-qualified.
